Network Operations Center (NOC) Overview
  • Multiple major backbone providers: UUNET, Time Warner, Level 3, EPiK, WorldCom, AT&T, Sprint and Time Warner Teleco; Optical backbone by Aleron
  • Use of BGP4 protocol
  • SONET technology for maximum redundancy, fault tolerance, and load balancing
  • High-performance Intel 2.4 GHz (minimum) P4 (not Celeron) servers incorporating HARDWARE RAID LEVEL 1
  • Climate-controlled Data Center with APC UPS systems and emergency generator service
  • Rigorous physical, electronic, and personnel security measures protect your data

Location is everything!

Our servers are located in downtown Tampa, FL, right next to the police station. Because our servers are housed in one of the largest 'Telco Fortresses' in the southeast, it is not surprising that most major backbone providers also reside in the building. Currently, UUnet, Intermedia/Digex, Aleron, Level 3, Time Warner Telecom, MFS, GTE, Cable & Wireless, and many others have space in the building housing our servers. Our servers currently have access to approximately 4,000 mbps of available bandwidth. Speed is NOT an issue! Please note that NONE of our bandwidth is provided by COGENT for a number of reasons related to reliability and availability.

Physical Security

The network operations center (NOC) is secure. The front door must be opened by the security guard who is on duty 24/7/365. To guard against line failure or intrusion, the NOC is staffed 24 hours a day and monitored by a comprehensive security system incorporating proximity card readers for strict access control. NO public access is permitted under any circumstances. You can rest assured that only a handful of highly trained, level-three technicians will be allowed within close physical proximity of your server, and then only on an as-needed basis.

Reliability

The data centers have been engineered to avoid any single point of failure in our connectivity, power, or HVAC. All servers receive 24-hour individual monitoring, for the highest level of personalized security. Our servers utilize hardware RAID level 1 for increased data integrity and availability. The level of connectivity redundancy designed into our NOC ensures 0:00 downtime. Not 1%, we mean 0% downtime. Our overall uptime guarantee of 99.9% is an aggressive goal, and one we have consistently met since we began offering hosting services. In fact, our uptime typically meets or exceeds 99.999% during any 30-day period.

Multiple Redundancy

Everything from the connections to the Internet backbone, to the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) has at least one back up.
